An overnight event to mimic the pilgrimage that many youth experience in an international WYD.
The next morning, we begin our local pilgrimage through the Stockton streets towards the Cathedral of the Annunciation to culminate our experienece with Mass celebrated by Bishop Cotta.
World Youth Day (WYD) is an event for young Catholic people. It was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985. It is celebrated internationally every two to three years at different locations. The 1995 World Youth Day closing Mass in the Philippines set a world record with 5 million attendees— a record surpassed when 6 million attended a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in the Philippines 20 years later in 2015.
Did you know that World Youth Day 2019 is taking place in Panama?!
Many of us are not able to make the pilgrimage to Panama so we are hosting a stateside pilgramage! The Family Faith Formation and Youth Ministries at Cathedral are coming together to bring the experience of WYD to our local youth.
